Hey, I'm Kristen.
Based in the East Austin neighborhood, I’m the photographer, designer and illustrator behind the Studio K10 moniker.
I’ve always been an artsy kid. When I was 8, I wanted to be an animator. When I was about 13, I got my first point and shoot and entertained the idea of being a photographer. I got a Wacom Bamboo tablet when I was about 14 and wanted to be a comic book artist. I took a ton of art classes in high school, worked as a front desk executive at a dance studio and thought I’d be a professional ballroom dancer. But I borrowed a friend’s DSLR for a regional competition and that was it for me. I bought a DSLR and have been photographing ever since.
I made Studio K10 because I didn’t want to be nailed down to just one area of interest. I enjoy photography but I also love creating logos or vector illustrations. I wanted to do it all.
So here I am, creating a way to do it all. As a photographer, I specialize in journalism-style event photography, but also love flatlay and portraiture. As a designer, I like a good story behind a design and customizing type. I’m committed to capturing connections and passions, tiny details and big moments. I create designs that are fun but elegant; illustrations that are fantastical and modern.
Last August, I adopted a little grey kitten named Frannie (pictured above). I cry over puppies (Corgis, most specifically), love a neon sign, am a fan of Korean dramas, French cinema and Spanish music and talk with my hands a little more than I should. I’m constantly trying to improve and learn my trades even better, so challenges are welcomed rather than shied away from. I believe in community over competition and encourage questions and growth within our fellow colleagues.
If I sound like someone you wanna work with, let’s get coffee sometime!
